Stoneham Man Arraigned on Assault Charges
Jonathan Colleran, 31, 135 Elm Street, Stoneham was arraigned today in Lynn District Court on the following charges: assault with a dangerous weapon, operating to endanger, speeding, failure to stop for police, failure to stop/yield, marked lanes violation, and unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.
Essex Assistant District Attorney Lisa Core requested that he be held on $100,000 cash bail and that he be confined to him home should he post bail. She also filed a motion to revoke his bail on four open cases out Middlesex County. Judge Mary McCabe revoked his bail on the open cases, which will hold him without bail for up to 60 days, and set personal recognizance in this case.
ADA Core stated that the defendant was being pursued by Stoneham Police following a report of an alleged erratic driver. Stoneham Police pursued the Defendant through Stoneham as he repeatedly evaded their attempts to stop him, striking parked cars and damaging property in the process. Stoneham Police ceased the chase when the defendant’s speed reached 100 miles per hour on Route 95. At approximately 2:07 this morning, Saugus Police observed the defendant driving a Toyota Camry on Route 1 South with a tireless front driver’s side rim. After attempts to stop the vehicle failed, a pursuit ensued which ultimately ended on Beech Street in Saugus. As police approached the defendant’s vehicle, he drove toward them and shots were fired. The defendant was transported to a Boston hospital with gun-shot wounds and was treated and released.
Mr. Colleran was represented by Attorney Alicia Andrews and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is scheduled to appear in Lynn District Court again on October 2, 2013 for a pre-trial hearing.
