Individual and group counseling sessions are provided to offenders who elect to participate in this program. Treatment focuses on offenders addressing the issues that led to their abuse of drugs and alcohol.

Offenders from the sentenced and non-sentenced population participate. Sentenced offenders who participate are usually waiting for placement in SATCO, or do not desire the structure of an intense treatment program. Non-sentenced offenders are ineligible for a SATCO placement. This program allows them to participate in substance abuse counseling and helps arrange for program placement following their release from custody.

The curriculum centers on issues of denial, recovery tools, personal inventory, dynamics of addiction, self-esteem building, self-help and the disease concept of addiction. The group counseling sessions are 90 minutes and conducted five mornings a week.

This program served approximately 8,400 offenders in the last year.
