All state and county agencies, municipalities, charter schools, regional school districts, educational collaboratives and independent municipal districts are reminded about the upcoming deadlines for all state, county and municipal employees to comply with the conflict of interest law education and training requirements.  The law requires that all public employers annually distribute a summary of the conflict of interest law to all employees, and all employees must confirm receipt of the summary by returning an acknowledgment of receipt to their employer.  Each year, the summary has to be distributed by the end of December.

In addition, all public employees will again have to complete an online training program on the requirements of the conflict of interest law.  The Commission is currently developing new online programs which are scheduled to be available in December 2011, which will allow all public employees to complete the training by April 2, 2012.

Note: The Ethics Commission is requesting that public agencies wait until the new programs are available in December before notifying their employees about the requirement to complete the program.

Additional information will be provided when the online programs are available.  If you have any questions about the education requirements, please contact David Giannotti, the Commission's Public Education and Communications Division Chief, by calling 617-371-9505, or by email at dgiannotti@eth.state.ma.us
