GOVERNOR PATRICK ANNOUNCES NOMINATION TO THE BROOKLINE DISTRICT COURT
BOSTON - Tuesday, February 16, 2010 - Governor Patrick today announced the nomination of James D. Barretto of North Reading to the Brookline District Court. Barretto, a graduate of Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School, is currently serving as the Chief of the Attorney General's Division of Business, Technology and Economic Development.
"Jim Barretto has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to justice over his twenty-eight year career in private practice and public service," said Governor Patrick. "He will draw upon his extensive experience in civil and criminal law to serve well the Commonwealth and its citizens."
Barretto began his career in the Appeals Bureau of the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office before co-founding the Cambridge firm of Bellotti & Barretto in 1989. There he concentrated on criminal defense, personal injury and the defense of special investigation and fraud cases. Barretto is slated to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Brookline District Court Judge Paul K. Leary.
