From October 8 – 11, Governor Patrick led a coalition of the Commonwealth’s industry leaders on a Massachusetts – Canada Innovation Partnership Mission to promote job creation and expand economic opportunity in the Commonwealth.
“Canada and Massachusetts are already significant trading partners and there is much more we can mutually gain," said Governor Patrick.
The Massachusetts-Canada Innovation Partnership Mission featured stops in Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. Over the course of the mission, the Governor and his delegation met with Canadian government officials, including Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne. The Governor also met with top business leaders focused on the clean-tech, innovation, digital health, financial services, digital gaming and life sciences sectors.
Canada is the state’s largest export partner, with $3.5 billion in goods and services flowing across the border from Massachusetts last year, and $11.1 billion in exports trading hands between the two countries in 2012.
