A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Neurofibromatosis is a genetic tumor disorder that affects nearly 100,000 Americans and one in every 3,000 births; and
Whereas Neurofibromatosis affects all races, ethnic groups, and both genders equally; and
Whereas Symptoms of Neurofibromatosis includes learning disabilities, disfigurements, brain tumors, blindness, deadness, epilepsy and scoliosis; and
Whereas There is no cure or effective treatment for Neurofibromatosis; and
Whereas Through public awareness, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks to minimize the devastating effects of Neurofibromatosis among all Massachusetts citizens,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim May 2012, to be
Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-second day of February, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
