A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists have been providing high quality, cost effective anesthesia care for more than 125 years; and

Whereas CRNAs are anesthesia specialists who are the hands on providers of approximately 65% of all anesthetics given to patients each year in the United States; and

Whereas CRNA are the sole anesthesia providers in more than 65% of rural hospitals, affording these medical facilities obstetrical, surgical and trauma stabilization capabilities; and

Whereas CRNAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered: traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical delivery rooms, ambulatory surgical centers, the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons; U.S. Military, public health services and Veterans Affairs medical facilities,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim January 22nd – 28th, 2012 to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this second day of January, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
