A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas A diverse, skilled and knowledgeable labor force contributes to the strong, healthy economy of the Commonwealth; and
Whereas Older workers bring stability, expertise and a sense of continuity to the workplace; and
Whereas Older workers are increasingly accepting the challenge for life-long learning and have embraced new technologies to enhance their employability and their value in building a knowledgeable workforce through the Senior Community Service; and
Whereas The Senior Community Service Employment Program has improved the quality of life of older workers in the Commonwealth through employment and training assistance and as a valued Workforce Development partner; and
Whereas The Executive Office of Elder Affairs in partnership with Senior Service America, Inc., National Senior Network, National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, National Urban League, Citizens for Citizens, Inc., Elder Services of Berkshire County, and Operation A.B.L.E. of Greater Boston, continue to strive for excellence in providing employment and training opportunities for older workers across the Commonwealth,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim September 18th -24th, 2011 to be,
Employ Older Workers Week
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
