A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas According to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc. more than 11,000 people are diagnosed with carcinoid/NET cancer each year; and
Whereas At least 110,ooo people are living with carcinoid/NETs in the United States today; and
Whereas Over 90% of all carcinoid/NETs are incorrectly diagnosed or received delayed diagnosis; and
Whereas Through timely diagnosis and proper treatment, NET cancer patients can enjoy a better quality of life; and
Whereas Through public awareness the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks to provide an opportunity for all people to learn more about the causes and warning signs of this disease, in order for it to be detected early and treated effectively,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim November 2011, to be
NET Cancer Awareness Month
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-first day of October, in the year two thousand and eleven, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
