A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas The world has been transformed by technology making modern life more efficient, accessible, richer and faster; and
Whereas The United States benefits from a highly trained workforce that can compete in the global economy; and
Whereas Most industries and practices have embraced technology and used it to improve the way they do business; and
Whereas Education can capture the potential and effective use of technology can and provide new ways to offer students improved and personalized instruction; and
Whereas When done correctly, the infusion of digital learning and the effective use of technology in schools can help personalize and improve the learning of every child; and
Whereas Digital learning and the effective use of technology can assist teachers to do their job more effectively by providing real time data to track individual student progress, create improved and efficient learning processes that gives teachers more time to spend with each student, and eliminate burdens that take time away from teaching; and
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim February 1st, 2012, to be
Digital Learning Day
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this first day of February, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
