A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Massachusetts is a national leader in health care with over 98% of its residents insured; and
Whereas Increased cooperation between the public and private sectors in the area of health care, in conjunction with informed individuals can lead to better healthcare decisions and lower costs for all; and
Whereas Promoting transparency, by providing information to consumers, payers, and employers about their choices, allows the opportunity to select the highest quality care at the lowest cost; and
Whereas Innovative approaches to health care delivery and payment models, such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), create incentives for providers, hospitals and doctors to better coordinate patient care in order to improve the overall health of patients; and
Whereas Through cooperation between health care professionals, policy makers and residents, Massachusetts is determined to achieve affordable and accessible coverage for our residents,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim March 26th-30th, 2012, to be
Consumer Driven Health Improvement Week
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
