Commonwealth of Massachusetts
A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Military members throughout the Commonwealth and our nation serve to protect the principles and ideals on which this country was founded and seek to preserve our freedom, liberty, and democracy; and

Whereas Children’s love and support of their parents is essential to the men and women of our Armed Forces; and

Whereas Children and families sacrifice their daily lifestyle and routines to support their service member and thus play a vital role in the function of the United States Military; and

Whereas Military children conquer obstacles unique to their situation, such as constant concern for their parent’s well-being, separation from their loved one, and frequent relocation; and

Whereas The Commonwealth of Massachusetts recognizes  military children and the important role they play in the Armed Forces community and we commit to providing quality services and support dedicated to their success,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April 2012, to be,

Month of the Military Child

And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-seventh day of March, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
