A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Welding is a professional occupation that requires considerable training and specialized study; and
Whereas The application of that training and study is critical and calls for a steady supply of operators, designers, inspectors, engineers, teachers, and scientists from our schools; and
Whereas The American Welding Society is a national organization with more than 40,000 members devoted to advancing the science and art of welding. Their membership is composed of people from diverse industries, including universities and colleges, business, and students from technical institutes and regional vocational schools; and
Whereas We recognize the welders throughout our state for their contributions to our economy,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April 2012, to be,
Welded Products Month
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this first day of March, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
