A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Dr. George Demeter was one of the first Professional Registered members of the Massachusetts Unit of the National Association of Parliamentarians, later awarded the honor of Certified Professional Parliamentarian; and
Whereas Dr. Demeter received national and international recognition as an outstanding authority, not only as a parliamentarian, but also as a lecturer, instructor, and consultant; and
Whereas The textbook Demeter’s Manual of Parliamentary Law and Procedure has contributed greatly to the study of parliamentary rule and procedure; and
Whereas Throughout the United States and across the world, Dr. Demeter has been highly esteemed for his valuable contributions to a better understanding of parliamentary rules and their application in world-wide
deliberative bodies,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April 8th, 2012, to be,
George Demeter Day
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this ninth day of March, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
