A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Massachusetts is a global leader in the innovation economy and throughout its history has excelled in transforming technologies and industries while pushing the boundaries of innovation to new frontiers; and

Whereas In 2012 the first week long series of events, hosted by the innovation community highlighted Massachusetts as a center of excellence for all things related to conceiving, launching, and building new enterprises; and

Whereas Massachusetts is home to the world's largest start-up accelerator competition, and is leading initiatives in key innovation sectors such as big data, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, venture capital and digital games; and

Whereas The Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center will provide world-class infrastructure to enhance cooperative research, education and outreach activities; and

Whereas This week innovation events are happening across the Commonwealth and our leaders are pushing boundaries to understand the future of marketing, technology, big data, healthcare, start-ups and entrepreneurship,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim October 22-26th, 2012 to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this fifteenth day of October, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
