A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas According to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, Inc. more than 11,000 people are diagnosed with carcinoid/NET cancer each year; and

Whereas At least 11,000 people are living with carcinoid/NETs in the United States Today; and 

Whereas Over 90% of all carcinoid/NETs are incorrectly diagnosed or received delayed diagnosis; and

Whereas Through timely diagnosis and proper treatment, NET cancer patients can enjoy a better quality of life; and

Whereas Through public awareness the Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks to provide an opportunity for all people to learn more about the causes and warning signs of this disease, in order for it to be detected early and treated effectively,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts do hereby proclaim November 2012, to be 

NET CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-fifth day of October, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
