A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Dating back several thousand years, Hindu heritage’s traditions and values have provided invaluable lessons to many of life’s problems, and often serve as a source of inspiration, reflection,
and contemplation for the millions of individuals who look to Hinduism for spiritual guidance; and
Whereas Our vibrant Hindu American community has contributed tremendously to the vitality of the Commonwealth by enriching the lives of its citizens; and
Whereas Today the Hindu community will gather and celebrate their heritage by focusing on their culture and the diverse spiritual traditions rooted in India,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim May 19th, 2012, to be,
Hindu Heritage Day
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this eighth day of May, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
