His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas The 2012 National Primary Care Week was established by he American Medical Student Association in partnership with Primary Care Progress to highlight the importance of primary care and to bring health care professionals together to discuss and learn about generalist and interdisciplinary health care, particularly its impact on and importance to underserved populations; and
Whereas Studies have shown that health care systems with a foundation of strong primary care offer the most coordinated, cost-effective and high quality health care; and
Whereas Massachusetts’ health care reform has placed a significant focus on the need for a robust system of primary care; and
Whereas There is a critical need to train, recruit, retain and sustain primary care clinicians as an essential part of the Massachusetts workforce,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim the week of October 1st- 5th, 2012 to be,
NATIONAL PRIMARY CARE WEEK
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
