A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas The purchasing and supply management profession plays a significant role in the quality, efficiency and profitability of business and government throughout the United States; and
Whereas With a cumulative purchasing power worth billions of dollars, the purchasing and supply management profession has tremendous influence on the Commonwealth's economy; and
Whereas Purchasing and supply management professionals are vital members of private companies, public agencies and non-profit organizations; and
Whereas Representatives of this profession have joined together since 1905, to form the Purchasing Management Association of Boston, Incorporated, to share knowledge, promote professional certification and promulgate a standard of ethical conduct in supply chain management; and
Whereas The Purchasing Management Association of Boston and other purchasing/supply management organizations around the world are holding activities and special events throughout the month of March to educate the public about the role of supply management in business and government
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim March 2013, to be,
Purchasing/Supply Management Month
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twelfth day of March, in the year two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
