A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick


Whereas Immigrant entrepreneurship is vital to the economic growth, wealth and job creation in the Commonwealth; and

Whereas Immigrant entrepreneurs come from all over the world and create business in the Commonwealth that include enterprises from neighborhood storefronts to multi0national corporations; and

Whereas The Massachusetts New Americans Agenda, the Office for Refugees and Immigrants and the Massachusetts Immigration and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) call for recognizing and promoting the economic contributions of immigrant-owned businesses, workers, and consumers throughout the Commonwealth; and

Whereas Revolutionary ideas start here in Massachusetts where for almost four hundred years, social, cultural, technological, scientific, manufacturing, and design entrepreneurs have advanced our economic prosperity and quality of life; and

Whereas Entrepreneurial ingenuity is the lifeblood of the Commonwealth’s innovation economy. Innovation is Massachusetts’ edge, our fundamental competitive advantage, and our immigrant entrepreneurs are changing the state, nation and world for the better,,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim October 15th – November 15th 2013, to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this eighth day of October, in the year two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
