A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas 4712 marks the Year of the Horse; and

Whereas We should follow the lead of the intelligent and caring horse by taking the time to reach out to our neighbors in need, by providing a helping hand or volunteering in our communities; and

Whereas Our vibrant Asian community continues to be a vital part of the Commonwealth’s rich diversity by contributing significantly to all aspects of daily life, including education, medicine, commerce, agriculture, communications, public service and high technology; and

Whereas I send greetings as you gather to celebrate the Lunar New Year.  On behalf of the Commonwealth, I am so grateful for the wonderful cultural contributions the Asian American community makes to our Commonwealth,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim January 31st, 2014, to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
