A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas A corneal transplant, or keratoplasty, is a procedure replacing damaged corneas, giving clearer sight to those previously blind or vision-impaired; and

Whereas New corneal transplants reduce pain, repair vision and have a high success rate; and

Whereas Corneal transplants improve the lives of 40,000 – 60,000 Americans each year; and

Whereas Raising awareness of cornea donation and transplants is key to finding suitable donors and improving lives and health of Massachusetts residents in need,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim March, 2014, to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this tenth day of February, in the year two thousand and fourteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
