Commonwealth of Massachusetts
A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Massachusetts One-Stop Career Centers are a valuable resource not only to residents across the Commonwealth who are seeking employment, but also to employers attempting to hire qualified applicants; with most services being offered free of charge; and

Whereas There are over thirty Career Centers throughout the Commonwealth; from Hyannis to Greenfield and Gloucester; and

Whereas The Career Centers can be extremely beneficial to residents seeking employment. Job seekers can access online job postings and receive career counseling, and take advantage of other in-house resources; and

Whereas Employers can take advantage of employment and training resources such as: assistance with recruitment and hiring, job matching with potential hires and workforce training grants and tax credit programs; and

Whereas The One-Stop Career Centers are administered locally by Workforce Investment Boards -- comprised of business, government, education, labor and community leaders -- to ensure that each center is meeting the needs of its community, in addition to providing a standard level of basic services; and

Whereas The Commonwealth recognizes the role that Career Centers play in connecting workers and employers in bringing about economic opportunity by putting Massachusetts’ residents back on the payroll, one person and one job at a time,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim March 9th – 15th, 2014, to be,

CAREER CENTERS WEEK

And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twentieth day of February, in the year two thousand and fourteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.

By His Excellency

Deval L. Patrick
