A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Military members throughout the Commonwealth and our nation serve to protect the principles and ideals on which this country was founded and seek to preserve our freedom, liberty and democracy; and

Whereas Many of our servicemen and women are fathers, mothers, caregivers and guardians to children both living on military bases and across Massachusetts; and

Whereas The love and support of military children and families is essential to the men and women of our Armed Forces; especially when separated or serving abroad; and

Whereas Military children conquer obstacles unique to their situation, such as constant concern for their parent’s well-being, separation from their loved ones and frequent relocation; and

Whereas Children and families make sacrifices, both in their daily lifestyles and routines to support their service member and thus play a vital role in the function of the United States Military; and

Whereas The Commonwealth recognizes the important role military children play in the Armed Forces community, both at home and abroad and Massachusetts is committed to providing quality services and support that is dedicated to their success,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April, 2014, to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this fourth day of April, in the year two thousand and fourteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
