A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Education forms the foundation of our society and is an investment in our youth, whether it be academic or spiritual; and

Whereas Learning never stops and an ongoing education is vital to the success of the residents of the Commonwealth; and

Whereas Education and Sharing Day U.S.A. was initially established by a joint Congressional Resolution in 1978 as Education Day U.S.A. and serves as a day to raise educational awareness around the country coinciding with the birth of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson; and

Whereas Born on the 11th day of Nissan, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe fostered education and charity and inspired many throughout the Jewish community and the world; and

Whereas The Commonwealth recognizes the important role that education plays in the betterment of the Commonwealth, the nation and the world,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April 11th, 2014, to be,


And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this tenth day of April, in the year two thousand and fourteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
