A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

 

Whereas Massachusetts advanced manufacturers have embraced innovation and global competition to create an environment for growth; and

Whereas Manufacturers in Massachusetts employ 250,000 people and are expected to fill up to 100,000 jobs in the next 10 years, with average annual salary of $75,000; and

Whereas Over the last five years manufacturers have increased productivity at a rate of 8.7 percent – five times that of the private sector as a whole; and

Whereas Regional partnerships in Western, Central and Northeastern Massachusetts are creating new partnerships between manufacturers, educators and trainers across the Commonwealth; and

Whereas The “Amp It Up!” Program is providing young adults and their families the opportunity to recognize the possibility of good jobs and long careers in manufacturing; and

Whereas The Advanced Manufacturing Summit gives manufacturers the opportunity to learn best practices to gain and maintain a competitive advantage in the ever-changing, global economy; and

Whereas The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is committed to working with manufacturers to ensure quality connections and new pathways are created to ensure employers have well-trained workers available,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim June 20, 2013, to be

ADVANCED MANUFACTURING DAY

And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this sixth day of June, in the year two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
