Commonwealth of Massachusetts A Proclamation His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Research demonstrates that more brain development occurs during a child’s first five years than at any other time in a child’s life; and
Whereas The Commonwealth has responded to this growing body of research by laying a strong foundation for a statewide system of high-quality early education and care; and
Whereas A high-quality early education nurtures a child’s cognitive, social-emotional and physical development and helps build a solid foundation for future success; and
Whereas The purpose of Brain Building in Progress Week is to add to this momentum by focusing public attention on the needs of young children and their families and by recognizing the early childhood educators who meet these needs;
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick,Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim April 14-20, 2013, to be
BRAIN BUILDING IN PROGRESS WEEK
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this ninth day of April, in the year thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
By His Excellency
Deval L. Patrick Governor of the Commonwealth
