Commonwealth of Massachusetts
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas The quality of our environment is a fundamental concern of our community; and
Whereas Efficient, durable and cost-effective infrastructure is as essential to our economy as it is to the welfare of our citizens’ everyday lives; and
Whereas During the construction of infrastructure, the many technical disciplines which together constitute the geoprofessional industry are of paramount importance in maintaining both the integrity of our environment and the efficacy of our infrastructure; and
Whereas The health, safety and welfare of our community therefore depend upon geoprofessional services and those who provide them; and
Whereas The Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ relationship with the geoprofessional industry is characterized not only by the community’s reliance upon the industry, but additionally by the state’s development as a central location in the provision of education, consulting services and networking opportunities for geoprofessional businesses world-wide,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim October 11-17, 2013 to be,
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-seventh day of September, in the year two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-seventh.
By His Excellency
Deval L. Patrick
Governor of the Commonwealth
William Francis Galvin
Secretary of the Commonwealth
God Save the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
