Commonwealth of Massachusetts A Proclamation His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas The United States of America has stood firm as a citadel of individual liberty and a beacon of hope and opportunity for millions of citizens during our two hundred and thirty year history; and
Whereas The Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights guarantee the individual freedoms of all citizens; and
Whereas Chief among these freedoms are the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom to have and hold property inviolate; and
Whereas Since 1958, the Congress of the United States and the President have traditionally set aside, by official proclamation, a day in May as a special opportunity to recognize the role of law in American life,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick,Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim May 3, 2013, to be,
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-first day of March, in the year two thousand and thirteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
