Commonwealth of Massachusetts
A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick
Whereas Today’s children are our state’s future and they deserve a high-quality education; and
Whereas Early childhood organizations and programs around our Commonwealth are working to improve learning opportunities, which are crucial to the growth and development of young children; and
Whereas The experiences during a child’s early years have a profound influence on a child’s future development and success in school and life; and
Whereas Research demonstrates that more brain development occurs during a child’s first five years than at any other time in a child’s life; and
Whereas Family child care workers and providers offer nurturing and consistent care, develop lasting relations with families and prepare children with the skills they need to enter school eager to learn; and
Whereas These providers individualize curriculum for each child’s age and developmental needs; and
Whereas We recognize the dedication and compassion family child care providers demonstrate every day,
Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim May 11th, 2012, to be,
MASSACHUSETTS PROVIDER APPRECIATION DAY
And urge all the citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twenty-fourth day of April, in the year two thousand and twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the two hundred and thirty-fifth.
By His Excellency
Deval L. Patrick
Governor of the Commonwealth
William Francis Galvin
Secretary of the Commonwealth
God Save the Commonwealth
