Commonwealth of Massachusetts
A Proclamation
His Excellency Governor Deval L. Patrick

Whereas Every year our country sets aside a week to honor the 27.9 million Americans whose entrepreneurial spirit personifies the American Dream; and

Whereas America’s small businesses reflect the principles that make our country great: vision, responsibility, innovation, dedication and hard work; and

Whereas Small Business Week honors the innovation that drives the Massachusetts economy; and

Whereas The Commonwealth seeks to increase the competitiveness of our small businesses by investing in education, innovation and infrastructure and by streamlining state regulations to  reduce extra burdens on small businesses, helping them to continue to thrive and create jobs; and

Whereas Around our Commonwealth, small businesses have proven to be responsible corporate citizens and friend to their community; and

Whereas We take this week to recognize the small business owners for their contributions to our communities, economy and Commonwealth,

Now, Therefore, I, Deval L. Patrick, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, do hereby proclaim June 17-23, 2013, to be
