My name is Fallon Rice and I have been on the Governor’s Statewide Youth Council since November of 2011.
I have always been involved in my community, and through that have made connections with many people. One person in particular told me about a fantastic opportunity to serve on the Governor’s Statewide Youth Council. When I read the Council description, I knew it was right for me. I filled out the application but was not initially chosen for a position. However, soon after, I received a very exciting phone call asking if I was still interested in the position, and of course, I was. The following month, I was sworn into the Council with two other people. I have enjoyed every second of my time on the Council. My favorite event was when we put together our own anti-bullying rally. We had a showing of the movie, “Bully” and then a march through the Boston Common where we chanted and held signs about bullying prevention. The Governor’s Statewide Youth Council has been one of my best experiences. I am thrilled that we have now established an alumni group. When my time with the Council is over, I can still be involved. I look forward to keeping in touch and staying involved with each person who chooses to help better the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the means of the Council.
