GOVERNOR PATRICK AND GOVERNOR PERRY PLACE FRIENDLY WAGER ON MLS CUP

BOSTON - Friday, November 16, 2007 - Governor Deval Patrick today placed a friendly wager with Texas Governor Rick Perry on the 2007 Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup this weekend between the New England Revolution and the Houston Dynamo at the RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

Both governors have agreed that regardless of which team wins on Sunday, the wager should provide an opportunity to help a local charity. The governors have each wagered Texas and Massachusetts specialties, bar-b-que and lobster, respectively.

"I am confident that the Revolution will continue this season of champions in New England," said Governor Patrick. "I hope the Texas ribs are as good as the Colorado steaks the Red Sox won for us."

"There is no chance the New England Revolution can keep up with the Lone Star State's reining soccer champs," Perry said. "The Dynamo play to win and I expect a huge victory come this Sunday."

This year's game marks the 12th MLS Cup.
