STATEMENT OF GOVERNOR PATRICK ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE COMMITTEE REPORT

BOSTON - Friday, July 30, 2010 - The following is a statement from Governor Deval Patrick on the economic development conference committee report.

"I commend the Senate President, the Speaker and the members of the Legislature for agreeing to a strong Economic Development bill that will result in new job opportunities, promote small business growth and help Massachusetts continue to lead the nation out of recession. Passage of this legislation is an important step in our economic recovery and comes on the heels of today's news that the Massachusetts economy expanded at more than double the rate of the nation as a whole. I am particularly pleased that they have agreed to once again support a sales tax holiday. This is an important economic shot in the arm for retailers and consumers alike."
