GOVERNOR PATRICK ANNOUNCES NOMINATION OF FALL RIVER ATTORNEY AS FALL RIVER DISTRICT COURT CLERK-MAGISTRATE

BOSTON - Wednesday, December 8, 2010 - Governor Patrick today announced the nomination of attorney John C. O'Neil as Clerk-Magistrate of the Fall River District Court.

"Mr. O'Neil will bring valuable legal expertise and community knowledge to this Clerk-Magistrate's position," Governor Patrick said. "I am pleased to nominate him to serve the Commonwealth in this important role."

John C. O'Neil is a partner in O'Neil & O'Neil, a general practice law firm in Fall River. He has been practicing law in Fall River since 1987. His practice includes civil and criminal litigation in District and Superior Courts, as well as administrative hearings before state and municipal entities. Mr. O'Neil served for nine years as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Bristol County. He is a board member and past president of the Thomas Chew Memorial Boys and Girls Club and Chair of the Fall River Board of Assessors. Mr. O'Neil is a graduate of University of Massachusetts, Amherst ( cum laude, 1983) and Suffolk University Law School (1986) and resides in Fall River. He is slated to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of The Honorable Ronald A. Valcourt.
