GOVERNOR PATRICK STATEMENT ON MASSACHUSETTS ADDING 15,400 NEW JOBS IN FEBRUARY
BOSTON - Thursday, March 17, 2011 - Governor Deval Patrick today released the following statement on Massachusetts adding 15,400 new jobs in February, as the unemployment rate decreased to 8.2 percent:
"I am extremely encouraged by today's announcement that we added 15,400 jobs in Massachusetts last month. These numbers are another positive sign that our strategy for growing jobs by investing in education and our innovation economy is working. But these are more than just numbers. These figures represent thousands of people in the Commonwealth getting back to work after a long and difficult global economic recession.
"We continue to lead the nation in economic recovery, but our work is not done. The Lieutenant Governor and I are committed to fighting for every job in every corner of the Commonwealth and the world until every person who is looking for work finds it."
