GOVERNOR PATRICK ADMINISTERS CEREMONIAL OATH TO MARY THOMAS SULLIVAN OF BROOKLINE TO MASSACHUSETTS APPEALS COURT

BOSTON – Friday, February 17, 2012 – Governor Deval Patrick yesterday administered the ceremonial oath of office to Associate Justice Mary Thomas Sullivan to the Massachusetts Appeals Court during a ceremony with Sullivan’s colleagues and family members at the John Adams Courthouse in Boston.

Prior to becoming an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, Sullivan was a partner at the Boston firm of Segal Roitman, LLP, with a practice focusing on labor law. She represented employees and labor organizations in a variety of matters and has extensive litigation experience. She joined the firm in 1983, after serving as a law clerk for Chief Judge Shane Devine in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Sullivan has been described by colleagues and judges as highly intelligent, well prepared, knowledgeable and as an appropriately zealous and very effective advocate. Governor Patrick appointed Sullivan to serve on the Apprenticeship Training Council. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (B.A. cum laude, 1975) and Northeastern University School of Law (J.D., 1981). She resides in Brookline.
