GOVERNOR PATRICK ANNOUNCES THREE DISTRICT COURT CLERK-MAGISTRATE NOMINATIONS
BOSTON – Thursday, March 13, 2014 – Governor Deval Patrick on Wednesday announced three District Court clerk-magistrate nominations: Charles J. Ardito, III as Clerk-Magistrate of the Barnstable District Court; John D. Fitzsimmons as Clerk-Magistrate of the Plymouth District Court; and John F. Kennedy as Clerk-Magistrate of the Uxbridge District Court.
“I am pleased to nominate these accomplished attorneys and court administrators to clerk-magistrate positions,” said Governor Patrick. “They all have valuable legal and management experience that will enable them to excel in these important leadership positions. I thank them for their commitment to the fair administration of justice in the District Court.”
Charles J. Ardito, III began his service in the Barnstable District Court clerk’s office in 2001 as an assistant clerk. He had previously served as a probation officer in Orleans for three years and practiced law in West Yarmouth for two years. From 2010 to 2011, he was the acting clerk-magistrate at the Orleans District Court. In May 2013, he became the acting clerk-magistrate at the Barnstable District Court. He is a graduate of Villanova University (B.A., 1984) and Southern New England School of Law (J.D., 1995). He resides in West Yarmouth. If confirmed, Ardito will fill the clerk-magistrate position at the Barnstable District Court formerly held by the Honorable Robert E. Powers.
John D. Fitzsimmons has served in the Plymouth District Court’s clerk’s office since 1984, as an assistant clerk-magistrate for seven years and as the first assistant clerk-magistrate for the past 23 years. He also served for two years as an investigator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bureau of Special Investigations and for two years as a probation officer at the Brookline District Court. He is a graduate of Stonehill College (B.S., 1976) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D., 1989). Fitzsimmons resides in Marshfield. He is slated to fill the clerk-magistrate vacancy at the Plymouth District Court formerly held by the Honorable Roger W. O’Neil, Jr.
John F. Kennedy worked as an assistant district attorney in Worcester County for 21 years beginning in 1992. In August 2013, he became an assistant clerk-magistrate in the East Brookfield District Court. Kennedy is a graduate of Worcester State College (B.A., 1986) and New England School of Law (J.D., 1990). He resides in Paxton. If confirmed, Kennedy will fill the clerk-magistrate vacancy at the Uxbridge District Court created by the appointment of Gerald A. Lemire as Associate Justice of the Uxbridge District Court.
