GOVERNOR PATRICK ANNOUNCES ORLEANS DISTRICT COURT NOMINATION
BOSTON – Wednesday, April 23, 2014 – Governor Deval Patrick today announced the nomination of Lisa F. Edmonds as Associate Justice of the Orleans District Court.
“I am honored to nominate Assistant District Attorney Edmonds to the District Court bench,” said Governor Patrick. “She is an experienced and well respected trial attorney with a fine reputation for hard work and fairness. I thank her for her commitment to public service and her willingness to serve the Commonwealth as a member of the judiciary.”
Edmonds has been an Assistant District Attorney for the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office since 1996. She has had extensive trial experience in the District, Juvenile and Superior Courts and served as the Chief District Court prosecutor from 2001 to 2006. As Chief of the Domestic Violence Unit since 2009, she supervises domestic violence prosecutions in five district courts, works with community agencies on violence prevention projects and trains police officers on domestic violence issues. Edmonds is a graduate of University of Massachusetts, Boston (B.A. magna cum laude, 1992) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D. cum laude, 1995). She resides in East Falmouth. If confirmed, she will fill the vacancy on the Orleans District Court created by the retirement of The Honorable Brian R. Merrick on May 9, 2014.
