Governor Patrick:

You all know the compelling statistics; you all know what a difference it can make for a young person who has access- particularly a poor kid- who has access to high quality early education. The time and attention and love and nurturing of a caring adult, a professional who understands that extraordinary development of the brain between zero and four. It's so struck me as we've been working our way though the Readiness Project how much of the brain develops between zero and four but we don't start spending money on kids until they're five. Well this is very much about how we begin to refocus on how we develop young people so that they reach that god-given potential that Bob Antonioni talked about. We want them to reach that potential. It is a blessing for them and it's a blessing for all of us and I'm proud to be with you.
