Purpose
To provide newly-selected or prospective MAARNG Unit Commanders
pertinent information on the various facets of command from pre-command
inventories to special interest items.
Program Scope
The ARNG Company level Pre-Command Course offers
company grade commissioned officers an opportunity to acquire
essential knowledge critical to the establishment of a positive
command climate. Today's Army is dependent upon the strength and
readiness of its Reserve Forces. ARNG commanders must take full
responsibility to ensure the command climate fosters trust, loyalty,
confidence and commitment in subordinates.
This course provides company grade commanders with
the basic information required to plan, execute, and manage the
conduct of unit training in preparation for real world missions.
The Massachusetts ARNG Regional Training Institute
(MARTI) takes full responsibility for the development of the courseware
required to teach this course. Instructors selected to teach are
among the best-qualified soldiers in the Massachusetts Army National
Guard. They are subject matter experts in their respective fields
and offer real world experiences to reinforce lessons learned.
It is important to emphasize that this course demands
the full cooperation of the students enrolled. The course is conducted
using a conference/seminar style of instruction. Active student
participation enhances the learning process. Students are expected
to demonstrate proficiency in all training objectives. In addition
to classroom practical exercises, students must devote a certain
amount of independent study to read-ahead assignments and accomplish
several lessons through their own independent initiative.
Graduates of the ARNG Company Level Pre-Command
Course possess the essential skills and required knowledge to
effectively assume a company command in the Army National Guard.
