The purpose of the Promoting Manufacturing working group is to elevate public understanding of the current capabilities and future potential of advanced manufacturing in Massachusetts.  The group also aims to support the attraction of talent and help position the Commonwealth as a hub for advanced manufacturing companies, including expanding opportunities for in-state marketing of the state’s supply chain capabilities.

Led by:

  • Al Cotton, Nypro
  • Michael Tamasi, AccuRounds

Initiatives:

The group is working with regional partners to develop and deploy a cohesive marketing campaign that targets educators, guidance counselors, parents, dislocated workers, and industry representatives in an effort to promote awareness and positively change perceptions of manufacturing in Massachusetts.

The group is also working to establish a first-in-the-nation network of manufacturers, affiliates and supporters—known as The Friends of Manufacturing—to further elevate the visibility and competitiveness of Massachusetts manufacturing in a holistic way.  This network will create new pathways between individuals and institutions with different relationships to manufacturing, including those indirectly connected to the industry (i.e., lenders, foundations, educators, etc.).

A statewide roll-out is being planned for summer with leaders from industry, state government and regional participants.
