Secretary Ash Names Northeastern Massachusetts Regional Director
Regional Director DiStefano will work with communities and businesses to facilitate development and expansion
Boston – Friday, July 10, 2015 – The Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Office of Business Development is pleased to welcome Maria DiStefano as the Regional Director for Northeastern Massachusetts.
“Maria brings a wealth of knowledge about businesses of all sizes,” said Deputy Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Carolyn Kirk. “Her experience working with the Boston Main Streets program will serve as a great foundation for her work with the businesses community, main streets and leaders within the Northeast region.”
As Regional Director, Maria will focus on assisting businesses in the Northeastern region, and will help connect them to resources.
“Maria’s history as an economic development professional creating partnerships between businesses and communities will be a wonderful asset to the Massachusetts Office of Business Development,” said Assistant Secretary of Business Development Nam Pham.
“Ensuring that businesses are able to join and drive the Commonwealth’s economic development is a high priority for the Office of Business Development,” said Regional Director Maria DiStefano. “I look forward to working with municipalities and businesses to connect them with resources and help them build a strong economic base.”
Maria DiStefano joins the Massachusetts Office of Business Development after working for Boston Main Streets and East Boston Main Streets since 2000, where she acted as a liaison between businesses and communities of Boston. Maria also managed business promotion strategies, and provided technical assistance to Main Streets managers and volunteers. She owned and managed a small business for four years. Maria and her husband reside in Rockport with their two sons.
