The Executive Office of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the Health Care Quality and Cost Council, and the Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety and the Reduction of Medical Errors have convened this panel to investigate and study health care delivery for a patient's end of life care with serious chronic illnesses. The expert panel will analyze the variations in delivery of such care among health care providers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and identify best practices, including those that minimize disparities in care delivery and variations in practice or spending among geographic regions and hospitals. The panel will present its recommendations for legislative, regulatory, or other policy changes.
