The Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General has been involved with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) even before it was enacted into law by the federal government.

After ARRA was enacted, the Office worked with the Governor, legislature, and state agencies to develop comprehensive plans, including legislation, to ensure effective and efficient implementation of measures for accountability, transparency and oversight.

The Office has restructured staff and resources and developed a plan for concentrating its efforts on prevention initiatives, as well as monitoring, reviewing and investigating programs and funds as the federal money is distributed and received by state and local entities and other recipients.
