BOSTON – The Department of Justice, Office of Carmen M. Ortiz, United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, on January 23, 2013, charged Michael E. McLaughlin, former Executive Director of the Chelsea Housing Authority, in federal court with falsely reporting his salary in annual budgets required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development. The Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General worked on the matter in a combined probe with the Massachusetts State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the Office of the Inspector General for HUD.
