Judicial Nominating Commission
-
Governor Deval L. Patrick recognizes that the quality of our system of administering justice is determined largely by the quality of the judicial officers appointed to serve within our judicial system. Governor Patrick created the Judicial Nominating Commission (the "JNC"), pursuant to Executive Order No. 500, knowing that public trust begins with the process by which judges are appointed.

To assist prospective applicants, a list of current vacancies and a list of anticipated vacancies, given mandated retirements, will be posted on this website. Please check the website frequently to ensure up-to-date information regarding all judicial vacancies and application deadlines.
-
Applications may be submitted only upon the posting of a particular vacancy on the Current Vacancies list. Candidates may not apply for positions that are anticipated until we invite applications by setting an application deadline. All premature applications will be returned. To amend a pending application to include a new posting, candidates must submit a written request to the Executive Director prior to the application deadline. Please review the Application Instructions and Executive Order No. 500 prior to completing the application.

We welcome all questions with the hope that no prospective applicant will ever be discouraged from applying because of the technicalities of the application process.
