Boylston, Mr. Sannicandro of Ashland, Ms. Garry of Dracut, Ms. L’Italien of Andover,
Mr. McCarthy of East Bridgewater, Ms. Canavan of Brockton, Mr. Eldridge of
Acton, Mr. Stanley of Waltham move that the bill be amended, in Section 2, by
inserting after item 7035-0002 the following item: -
“7035-0004 For reimbursements to cities, towns, regional school districts, and
independent vocational schools for certain expenditures for transportation of
pupils pursuant to section 1I of Chapter 15 of the General Law’s, sections 7A,
7B, and 37D, of chapter 71 of the General Laws, section 8 of chapter 71A of the
General Laws, and Section 14 of Chapter 71B of the General Laws; provided that
of the amount appropriated in this item not less that $750,000 shall be
obligated for the implementation of chapter 663 of the acts of 1983; provided
further, that a school district that transports or pays for the transportation
of public school children grades 7 to 12, inclusive, shall provide
transportation or payment for transportation for non-public school children in
the same grades; provided further, that any city, town, or regional school
district or independent vocational school which has not accepted chapter 663 of
the acts of 1983 shall be ineligible for any reimbursement of costs incurred
during fiscal year 2008 under this item or for reimbursement of such costs
under any General law referred to in this item; and provided further, that
notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the commonwealth’s
obligation shall not exceed the amount appropriated in this item…. $25,000,000”
