Mr. Costello of Newburyport moves that the bill be amended in section 2, in item 1107-2501, in lines 1 through 4, inclusive, by striking out the following: “For the disabled persons protection commission; provided, that the commission shall facilitate compliance by the department of mental health and the department of mental retardation with uniform investigative standards” and inserting in place thereof the following: “For the disabled persons protection commission; provided, that the commission shall meet its statutory mandate to conduct timely investigations and protective services, address the increases in hotline calls and investigations assigned, and eliminate the backlogs;” and in said item by striking out the figures “$2,123,909”  and inserting in place thereof the figure “$3,459,561.”
