Representatives Wolf of Cambridge, Haddad of Somerset, Toomey of Cambridge, Sciortino of Somerville, Canavan of Brockton, Story of Amherst, Walz of Boston and Callahan of Sutton move to amend the bill in section 2 by inserting after item 7032-0028 the following item:

 

“7032-5000 Health Education and Human Services Discretionary Grant

Not less than 200,000 shall be expended for the department of elementary and secondary education to study and issue a report on the status of comprehensive health education in the commonwealth;  provided further, that the department shall issue a report not later than December 15, 2008; provided further, that the report shall contain the number of schools currently providing health education as set forth in the department’s comprehensive health curriculum frameworks, the number of hours that the schools spend on the subject, which schools promote promising practices and should be identified as model programs, and recommended options for how to expand access to comprehensive health education in the commonwealth.”
